Medical Aesthetic Consultations

Lines & Wrinkles Treatment

A nurse-led consultation and treatment plan for expression lines, delivered with medical precision and a focus on keeping your face moving naturally.

Expression lines form where the face moves most: across the forehead, at the outer corners of the eyes, and between the brows. They are a normal part of having an expressive face, and softening them is a question of judgement rather than volume.

Every plan at NUA starts with a face-to-face medical assessment. Lauren is an NMC registered nurse, and she will assess your facial anatomy, muscle strength and skin health before recommending anything. Some options involve prescription-only medicines, which by law can only be prescribed after that in-person assessment.

The aim is always subtle. Softened lines, retained expression, and a result that looks like a well-rested version of you rather than a different face.

Who it suits

  • Forehead lines that stay visible when your face is at rest
  • Crow's feet at the outer corners of the eyes
  • Frown or eleven lines between the brows
  • Early signs of ageing you would rather address before they deepen
  • Anyone wanting a natural result that keeps normal facial movement

What happens

  1. Medical assessment

A face-to-face consultation covering your medical history, what is bothering you, and what you want the outcome to feel like. Lauren assesses muscle strength and facial anatomy at rest and in movement.

  2. Your plan

Areas are agreed together, with a clear explanation of what each one will and will not change. If a treatment is not right for you, or not right yet, you will be told that.

  3. Treatment

The treatment itself takes around fifteen minutes. Most people describe it as a series of brief pinches rather than anything painful.

  4. Review

A follow-up appointment two weeks later checks how the result has settled and allows any fine adjustment.

Aftercare

  • Stay upright for four hours afterwards
  • Avoid rubbing or massaging the treated areas for 24 hours
  • Skip strenuous exercise, saunas and steam rooms for 24 hours
  • Expect small raised bumps at injection points that settle within an hour
  • Results build over three to fourteen days rather than appearing immediately

Lines & Wrinkles Treatment: your questions answered

How long do the results last?

Typically three to four months, though this varies between individuals. With regular maintenance many people find results last longer over time, as the treated muscles gradually become less strong.

Will I look frozen or unnatural?

Not when the treatment is planned properly. The focus at NUA is always on subtle enhancement, softening lines while keeping your natural facial expression and movement. Lauren treats conservatively and reviews at two weeks rather than overtreating at the first appointment.

Which areas can be treated?

The most common areas are forehead lines, crow's feet around the eyes, and frown lines between the brows. Lauren assesses your facial anatomy during the consultation and will recommend the areas that will actually make a difference for you.

Does it hurt?

Most people find it very manageable. The needles used are extremely fine and each injection takes a second or two. Most describe the sensation as a brief sharp pinch rather than pain.

How long does the appointment take?

Allow around an hour for a first appointment. That covers the medical assessment, the treatment itself, and time to go through aftercare properly. The injections take about fifteen minutes of that.

When will I see the results?

Results build gradually. Most people notice a change from around day three, with the full effect settled by around two weeks. That is why the review appointment is scheduled at the two-week mark.

Is there any downtime?

Very little. You may have small raised bumps at the injection points for up to an hour, and occasionally slight bruising. Most people go straight back to work or their normal day.

Do I need a consultation first?

Yes, and it is a legal requirement rather than a formality. Treatments involving prescription-only medicines can only be provided after a face-to-face assessment by the prescribing clinician. That assessment is included, not charged separately.

Who will be carrying out my treatment?

Lauren, an NMC registered nurse who graduated with First Class Honours from Northumbria University and holds CIDESCO and ITEC qualifications in beauty therapy. You see the same practitioner at every appointment.

Can I have this treatment if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?

No. These treatments are not offered during pregnancy or breastfeeding. This is covered during the medical assessment, and Lauren can suggest suitable alternatives such as skin-focused treatments in the meantime.

What happens if I do not like the result?

That is what the two-week review is for. The treatment is planned conservatively so there is room to adjust upward if needed. Results are not permanent, so any outcome gradually wears off over three to four months.

Can I combine it with other treatments?

Yes. It combines well with polynucleotides, Profhilo and microneedling, which work on skin quality rather than muscle movement. Lauren will sequence them sensibly rather than doing everything at once.

Considering lines & wrinkles treatment?

Book a consultation to talk it through. If it is not the right treatment for you, Lauren will tell you that.
